David Weibel spent part of his childhood in Saudi Arabia before returning to Texas, where he graduated from high school in Houston and attended The University of Texas at Austin. At UT’s McCombs School of Business, he earned a B.B.A. in Finance and Real Estate while beginning his professional career well before graduation.
While still an undergraduate, David became the first employee of an Austin-based commercial real estate investment firm, working full time while completing his studies. He later moved into structured finance and distressed securities at Tejas Securities, joining John Randolph in 2009 and developing expertise in mortgage-backed and other structured products.
In 2015, David and John founded Stonecrest Partners, where David helped expand the firm across institutional markets, wealth management and other investment businesses. Throughout his career, he has continued to pursue real estate development projects and entrepreneurial investments, bringing a hands-on investor’s perspective to the Stonecrest platform.
Today, David serves as Chairman of Stonecrest Partners and leads Stonecrest Investment Management, which he founded in 2021 to pursue private investment opportunities, particularly in real estate and private credit in Puerto Rico. His career reflects an entrepreneurial spirit present from the beginning — an interest not simply in investing in businesses and real estate, but in building them.
